Vancouver Canucks center Ryan Kesler has been spending time surprising fans around Vancouver for the past few days. His first stop was a Save-On-Foods store in North Vancouver.
Sporting a name tag that dubbed him ‘Store Manager’, Kesler turned the mundane experience of grocery shopping into one many fans won’t soon forget. As shoppers approached the checkout to pay, Kesler was behind the counter bagging their groceries!
While he worked, Kesler handed out hockey tickets and signed jerseys to fans. He also posed for photos and even told an elderly woman to cancel her transaction so he could pay for her groceries.
His next surprise was for one particular fan – a Canucks season ticket holder. Kesler got the fan’s work number, and phoned him during business hours to share some exciting news – that he was selected to drop the puck at the ceremonial face off at the Canucks’ season opener against the Anaheim Ducks on Saturday, January 19th.
Little did Kesler know that Dr. Jeffrey Bell wasn’t the only one in store for a surprise! Bell happened to be performing a pelvic exam when Kesler made the interrupting call.
