My Top 5 | Radim Vrbata

He won’t be going door-to-door himself looking for sweet and salty Halloween treats tonight, but veteran forward Radim Vrbata definitely knows which teammate he’d take along if he were to go out trick-or-treating.

As for what satisfies his sweet (and snack) tooth, the player with over 1,000 NHL games on his hockey résumé has served up an impressive list for NHLPA.com.

Radim Vrbata's Halloween Top 5

1. Chocolate anyone?

“I’ve always liked milk chocolate. It’s definitely something I enjoy, even when I was a little kid. I still like it a lot.”

2. Something with a little pop to it

“The kids (Radim and his wife, Petra, have three children) really enjoy eating cheese popcorn and we have it in the house. I’m really into that now. When they have some, I’ll grab a handful or two. It’s really good.”

3. When the chips are down

“I like having potato chips every now and again. I just like the plain kind.”

4. We all scream for ice cream

“Growing up, I loved to have ice cream. I still do. My favourite flavours are vanilla and strawberry. I don’t mind ice cream at night. (Laughing) I’m lucky because I have good metabolism, so it doesn’t hurt me.”

5. Decadent desserts

“My wife makes some really great food and desserts. I like everything she makes. She makes this pastry with vanilla cream inside and a strawberry or another fruit on top. She’s really into baking. Whatever she makes, it’s excellent.”

On this year’s Halloween costume:

“I have a costume in mind, but it’s a surprise. I have to keep it a secret, but it will be a big reveal that night.”

On which teammate he’d take trick-or-treating:

On which teammate he’d take trick-or-treating: “If I was going with one guy, probably Keith Yandle. I know him from playing together in Arizona. He likes to talk, so I think he would get us lots of candies.”
