NHLPA announces Andrew Wolfe to lead NHLPA Goals & Dreams program
Wolfe will be taking over leadership of G&D from Devin Smith who has taken on additional duties in the NHLPA’s Business Department.
TORONTO (Sept. 19, 2024) – The National Hockey League Players’ Association announced today that long-time NHLPA employee Andrew Wolfe will be taking over leadership of the NHLPA Goals & Dreams program. Devin Smith, who has headed up the program since its inception in 1999, has taken on additional duties in the NHLPA’s Business Department that will require him to focus his time and attention on business initiatives for the Association.
“The NHLPA Goals & Dreams program has grown into one of the most impactful hockey programs in the world under Devin Smith’s hard work and leadership,” said Marty Walsh, NHLPA Executive Director. “As the NHLPA continues to grow, we are pleased to have Andrew Wolfe take over the day-to-day leadership of our NHLPA Goals & Dreams program. I’m excited to continue to see the program flourish under his leadership.”
Wolfe has been with the NHLPA since 2006, working mainly in the Communications Department where he will continue to work as he takes on this new role. He will be responsible for continuing to enhance and develop new programming and initiatives for NHLPA Goals & Dreams. He will also be tasked with working on the Players’ Association’s other charitable initiatives.
“This is an incredible opportunity to lead the players’ charitable program, NHLPA Goals & Dreams, as we near the 25th anniversary in November,” said Andrew Wolfe, Director, NHLPA Goals & Dreams and Communications. “G&D’s legacy of giving back to the game of hockey is strong, thanks to the exceptional work of Devin Smith and countless players and staff members who dedicated their time towards establishing a meaningful program, and it is one that I can’t wait to build on.”
It was announced in August that Smith was promoted to Senior Director, Sponsorship & Player Marketing in the NHLPA’s expanding Business Affairs Department.
“NHLPA Goals & Dreams has been an extremely important program for the NHLPA members since 1999 and I am so thankful and proud to have been part of it since its inception. There is nothing better than seeing the smile on a child’s face when they receive their new equipment from the NHLPA,” said Devin Smith. “G&D is in great hands and will continue to thrive and help thousands of more children play hockey in the years ahead.”
In this role, Wolfe will immediately embark on the NHLPA Goals & Dreams 25th anniversary plans during the 2024-25 NHL season.
