How do you make a game-winning hat trick better?
Through a proud dad moment, which presented itself to Jonathan Marchessault as he snuck onto the bench during the first intermission of Saturday’s Vegas Golden Knights game to watch his 5-year-old son, William, take to the ice for a mini-game.
Looking just like his dad in steel grey and gold wearing No. 81, William was looking like a natural already as Coach Dad cheered him on from the bench.
“I think he did well, he’s only five and he’s playing with eight-year-olds out here, so I think he follows the pace well. He’s doing good, proud of him.” said Marchessault during the intermission.
This wasn’t the first time a mini Marchessault took to the ice during intermission at his dad’s game, but it’s become a special tradition between this father and son.
Following the buzzer, William took a quick skate over to his dad and the duo shared a special moment together before they headed to their designated dressing rooms to get ready for the start of the second period.

William wasn’t the only Marchessault putting on a show at T-Mobile Arena this night as Jonathan himself tallied the game-winning goal as part of his third hat trick of the season, leading the Golden Knights to a 5-3 victory over the Detroit Red Wings.
All this, knowing his biggest fan was in the crowd watching.
