Tuesday Tunes | Matt Dumba
“On practice days, the boys can have whatever they want. On game days, they know it’s all me," says Matt Dumba of his DJ duties.
“On practice days, the boys can have whatever they want. On game days, they know it’s all me.”
That's how Matt Dumba of the Minnesota Wild describes the unwritten game day rules when it comes to the pump-up tunes for his team.
From when he arrives at the rink until taking to the ice for warmup, Dumba's in charge of keeping his teammates happy and the auxillary cord out of the hands of those who have lost the privilege.
"They know who they are," said Dumba, who refused to give up any names.
“It’s a tough job,” admitted team netminder Devan Dubnyk. “I’ve learned it’s better to stay out of it. I don’t feel like having everyone complaining to me. He does a good job with it.”
