My Top 5 | Brandon Tanev

When he’s not busy patrolling left wing for the Winnipeg Jets, Brandon Tanev has no reservations about being a foodie, always on the lookout for cool spots to enjoy dinner near his summer home.

The 26-year-old forward sat down at the table with NHLPA.com and served up his top Toronto dining destinations, including a seafood place that has him hooked, so to speak.

Brandon Tanev's Top Toronto Restaurants

1. What’s at steak?

“I’d definitely say Jacobs and Co. Steakhouse is a big favourite of mine. I think this is the best steak I’ve ever had. Every time I go there, the consistency of the dish you’re getting is always the same and it’s excellent.”

2. Pasta time

“Number two on my list would be Grazie. It’s been a family spot for us. I can’t even tell you how many years we’ve been going or how many times we’ve gone. My parents have been taking my brother (Chris, who plays defence for the Vancouver Canucks) and I there for as long as I can remember. It’s always a nice place to go to and brings back a lot of memories.”

3. Nothing to sneeze at

“I really enjoy going to The Nose, also known as Gio Rana’s Really Really Nice Restaurant. It’s great food, a really cool spot and the ambience is amazing. It’s a different atmosphere, but it’s great.”

4. Ciao!

“Ascari Enoteca is a fantastic place. The first time I went there, I liked it a lot. It’s a really neat spot and the food is phenomenal. I definitely enjoy going back there.”

5. When the chips are down…

“I’d have to go with Off The Hook Fishbar. The fish and chips are unbelievable. One of my brother’s best friends started that restaurant. We grew up together. Sometimes when you want a little something different, it’s nice to go in there and see the guys doing well.”
