With a pair of assists and a beautiful overtime game-winning goal, Artemi Panarin helped the Columbus Blue Jackets claw their way back from two deficits to the first overtime victory of the 2018 Stanley Cup Playoffs in a 4-3 final over the Washington Capitals.

The Blue Jackets got on the board by cutting a 2-0 deficit in half with a goal by Alexander Wennberg in the middle frame.

Just 1:31 into the third period, Panarin picked up his first point of the night with the secondary assist on the first game-tying goal for Columbus, scored by Thomas Vanek. Devante Smith-Pelly quickly responded for the Caps, but Seth Jones evened things out on a sweet feed from Panarin late in the third period to force overtime.

“The Bread Man” showed off his silky mitts by going top shelf to complete a rush in all alone with the deciding game-winner just 6:02 into overtime.

The clubs will get two days off before Game 2, which takes place April 15, when the Capitals will look to try and even the series before shifting to Columbus.
