Which Hollywood hits made the right wing’s top five list? One of them combines hockey and golf, while another keeps bringing the 28-year-old back for more.
Time to open up the envelope and reveal Atkinson’s top big screen picks…
1. Step Brothers
“I love the two actors (Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly). Actually, I like all the actors in this movie. Just the concept of two 40-year-old stepbrothers getting to know one another and ending up becoming good friends – whoever comes up with that stuff is a genius. It gets better and funnier every time I watch it.”
2. Happy Gilmore
“I love this one because I think Adam Sandler is a genius in that movie. Any time you can correlate hockey and golf in the same kind of category, it’s definitely a win-win situation.”
3. Billy Madison
“We’ll stay with Adam Sandler and go with Billy Madison. That’s top 5 because it’s also a funny storyline. Every scene is funny. He goes back to school from grade one to high school. I just think it’s really funny. It’s a movie you watch over and over and it never gets boring. When you hear people quote movies, Happy Gilmore and Billy Madison are always up there.”
4. Straight Outta Compton (with an assist from his wife, Natalie)
“My wife (Natalie) is sitting right beside me. She mentioned that we both like Straight Outta Compton. We both like it because we both love music. The musicians that are in that movie – just what they had to go through and how they stuck with the process – I think it’s relatable to sports. It’s great to see where they came from and where they are now.”
5. (tie) National Lampoon’s Vacation / National Lampoon’s European Vacation / National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation / Vegas Vacation
“I love the Griswold family vacation movies. When they go to Vegas and the Christmas one – those are awesome. Chevy Chase is a very funny actor. I really enjoy the Christmas one a lot. It’s a great movie and it’s perfect because my wife and I love Christmas.”
