NEW YORK/TORONTO (March 6, 2018) – The National Hockey League (NHL®) and the National Hockey League Players’ Association (NHLPA), in conjunction with Live Nation, today announced dates, local start times, locations and ticketing information for the 2018 NHL Global Series™ and the 2018 NHL Global Series Challenge™. In January, the NHL announced that the Edmonton Oilers, Florida Panthers, New Jersey Devils and Winnipeg Jets will play regular-season games in Europe as part of the 2018 NHL Global Series™.

The Oilers and Devils will play their 2018-19 season-opening game against each other in Gothenburg, Sweden on Saturday, Oct. 6 at Scandinavium at 7 p.m. CET. The Panthers and Jets will face off in a pair of regular-season games at Hartwall Arena in Helsinki, Finland on Thursday, Nov. 1 and Friday, Nov. 2, with both games scheduled for 8 p.m. EET. Viasat and Viaplay will locally broadcast the 2018 NHL Global Series games in Sweden and Finland. In addition, the Devils and Oilers will complete their training camps in Switzerland and Germany, respectively, and each will play an exhibition match as part of the 2018 NHL Global Series Challenge™. Tickets to the 2018 NHL Global Series™ and 2018 NHL Global Series Challenge™ will go on sale to the public beginning next week.

The 2018 NHL Global Series™ will mark the seventh season the NHL has traveled to Europe to play regular-season games. These games reward the legion of loyal and passionate international fans by featuring some of the NHL’s biggest stars and generating interest in the League worldwide. The three games this fall will be the 23rd, 24th and 25th NHL regular-season games played in Europe. The Oct. 6 game between New Jersey and Edmonton will mark the ninth NHL regular-season game played in Sweden, and the first in Gothenburg. The two games between Florida and Winnipeg will mark the fifth and sixth NHL regular-season games played in Finland, all of which have been played at Hartwall Arena in Helsinki.

The NHL is a global League, with approximately 26 percent of NHL players this season having been born outside of North America. In October, Devils forwards Jesper Bratt and Marcus Johansson as well as Oilers defensemen Oscar Klefbom and Adam Larsson will be playing in their home country of Sweden for the first time as NHL players. In November, Panthers forward Aleksander Barkov as well as Jets forwards Joel Armia and Patrik Laine will be playing in their home country of Finland for the first time as NHL players.

Prior to the New Jersey-Edmonton season opening matchup, the Devils and Oilers will complete their training camps in Europe and will each play in an exhibition match as part of the 2018 NHL Global Series Challenge™. The Devils will report to Bern, Switzerland, and play an exhibition game against SC Bern on Monday, Oct. 1 at PostFinance Arena at 7:30 p.m. CET, where 2017 first-overall draft pick and Brig, Switzerland native Nico Hischier and Winterthur, Switzerland native Mirco Mueller will play in front of their home country. The Oilers will report to Cologne, Germany, and play an exhibition game against Kölner Haie on Wednesday, Oct. 3 at Lanxess Arena at 4 p.m. CET, where 2014 third-overall draft pick and Cologne native Leon Draisaitl will play in his hometown on German Unity Day. The New Jersey-SC Bern matchup will be broadcast locally on Teleclub and the Edmonton-Kölner Haie game will be broadcast locally on Sport1.

Florida was one of four NHL teams that traveled to Europe to play in the NHL Premiere Games in 2009. In two games to open their season in Helsinki, the Panthers traded victories with the Chicago Blackhawks at Hartwall Arena. Edmonton, New Jersey and Winnipeg will all be making their international regular-season debuts.

Tickets to all games of the 2018 NHL Global Series™ and 2018 NHL Global Series Challenge™ will be available for purchase beginning next week. Ticket opportunities are available on a first-come, first-served basis, while supplies last.
