The 19-year-old’s NHL start on home ice was much anticipated after Air Canada Centre fans got their first live preview of his talents with his great showing at the World Cup of Hockey. Matthews dazzled by netting two goals for Team North America, leaving Maple Leafs fans salivating.
Despite being held off the scoresheet in his blue and white debut in the building, it’s safe to say that his future is looking bright.
