Bobrovsky played flawlessly Tuesday, surrendering just one overtime goal to Alex Galchenyuk and the Montreal Canadiens after turning aside 28 shots at the Bell Centre in a goaltending duel that finished 1-0.
It was the only goal he woud give up for the rest of the week while guiding the Blue Jackets to two victories.
It was back to Nationwide Arena Thursday for another duel of top netminders. Brandon Saad had the game-winner in front of Bobrovsky, who turned aside 38 shots as the Blue Jackets downed the Minnesota Wild 1-0.
With Joonas Korpisalo given the nod on Saturday at Canadian Tire Centre in a 3-2 loss for the Blue Jackets, Bobrovsky returned to the crease at Prudential Centre on Sunday to turn away every shot fired by the New Jersey Devils.
Bobrovsky surpassed Steve Mason’s previous franchise-best mark of 33 wins set in 2008-09. By this time in 2009, Mason, now with the Philadelphia Flyers, had posted a 2.24 goals-against average alongside a .916 save percentage with eight shutouts. Bobrovsky currently owns a 2.09 GAA and a .929 SV% in addition to his five shutouts.
The Blue Jackets currently sit tied for second place in a strong Metropolitan Division, thanks in large part to Bobrovsky’s consistently excellent play in net.
While posting back-to-back shutouts, Bobrovsky faced 88 shots, leading all NHL goalies with a .989 SV% and a .33 GAA for the week.
