It's been a year of firsts for Carter Rowney, who notched three assists to help the Penguins to a 7-0 win in Game 5 of their Eastern Conference Final against the Ottawa Senators in Pittsburgh Sunday.

Rowney picked up the first point of his Stanley Cup Playoffs career with an assist on Bryan Rust's first period goal to make the score 3-0 Penguins. Rust's goal was the third of four goals by Pittsburgh in the opening frame.

Rowney proceeded to pick up the primary on Scott Wilson's marker just over two minutes later in the first period before picking up his third assist of the night on Matt Cullen's goal in the second period.

It's been quite the season for Rowney, who made his NHL debut earlier in the year with Pittsburgh.

An even bigger notable first for Rowney was the birth of his first child, immediately after Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Final in Pittsburgh.

Rowney will have an opportunity to score his first Stanley Cup Playoffs goal when puck drops on Game 6 of the Eastern Conference Final in Ottawa Tuesday.
